Corona and Digital Disruption in Academia
HHL Expert Talk: University 4.0
The covid-19 pandemic has hit universities hard. For centuries they were used to personal interaction between, students, professors and researchers. Sure, there were new digital options (such as MOOCs), but the academia largely neglected those. But now, from one day to the other, they had the option to either adapt to digital technologies or to close down university operations entirely.
“University 4.0 is a melting pot of creative excellence, entrepreneurial creativity, future focus and industry expertise.”
Prof. Dr. Carsten Bartsch challenges traditional teaching and talks about why university around the world, but especially in Germany, should adapt to today’s educational requirements. The University 4.0 as he calls it, sees a university as a user-centered, industry-convergent model of research and education stretching across institutions.
