Join us on September 2 for a live, virtual talk with our alumnus Thomas Pönisch on the impact of corona on banks in Germany.
The world turned upside down from one day to another when the Covid-19 pandemic struck the world at the beginning of 2020. As the economy all but came to a standstill, the focus quickly turned towards banks as the main intermediary in financial and capital markets. Thomas Pönisch wants to discuss some of the major challenges the banking industry has been facing since, and which stakeholders play a role in the fight against an unprecedented crisis in the modern world. What lessons could be drawn and who could be potential winners. Following his presentation, he invites you to a Q&A session.
Thomas Pönisch (photo above) holds an MBA in International Management from HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL) when graduating from one of the very first part-time executive programms at HHL (P2) in 2007. Since starting as an apprentice at Berliner Bank in 1991, he has acquired a vast experience in banking, both nationally and internationally. Having occupied several leading positions throughout his career – amongst others as DKB’s Head of Treasury for several years – he switched to the risk side and currently serves as Head of DKB Risk Control since April 2018.
HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management reacts to current developments in society and economy. The Virtual HHL Expert Talk series addresses latest and key topics in its research and academic programs to a broad audience. The HHL Expert Talk offers an open and further education and know-how transfer to the whole HHL community and beyond. This also applies to the ongoing corona crisis. The current events in the series will discuss the pandemic and its impacts on society, economics, sports, and culture.
The talks are held in English.
